A two bedroom, two bathroom apartment near Cleveland Clinic, a five to ten minute walk from the main campus in Fairfax, Cleveland. Two bathrooms and two closed bedrooms are what make it work for a pair of clinicians whose shifts barely overlap.

The space
Each bedroom has its own queen bed, closet and roller blinds that darken the room fully, so one person can sleep at two in the afternoon while the other cooks. The bathrooms are both full, one with a glass shower and one with a shower over a tub, which ends the small daily friction of sharing. Hardwood runs through the open living and dining area, and the kitchen sits behind a quartz bar with stools, so someone eating at odd hours is not rattling around in a separate room. Pots, pans, a dishwasher, a toaster and a coffee pot are all here. There is desk space for notes, and the sofa opens into a queen bed if a third person needs the apartment for a night. A hair dryer and a clothes steamer are here too, which sounds trivial until you are pressing something at six in the morning.

The neighborhood
Fairfax is close enough to the main campus that shift changes do not require a car. The walk is five to ten minutes. A Cleveland Clinic shuttle stop is five minutes away on foot, useful for a pre-dawn start in February. Meijer Fairfax Market, a five minute walk, is a full grocery store with a coffee shop, which covers most of what two working people need during a rotation. Little Italy is six minutes by car and Downtown Cleveland twelve, for the rare evening when you are both off at the same time.
