The space
Both bedrooms have a queen bed and roller blinds that black the room out, which is what you want when the sleep comes in pieces and at odd hours. The living and dining area is open and flat underfoot, with hardwood throughout and room to move without threading between furniture. The sofa folds out into a queen bed if a second helper arrives partway through the stay. In the kitchen there are quartz counters, a dishwasher, a stove and oven, a toaster and a coffee pot, so soft food and small early meals are easy to make. Two full bathrooms mean nobody waits, and one has a shower over a tub if sitting down to wash is easier for a while.

The neighborhood
Fairfax is residential and low key, which is the point after a hospital stay. Cleveland Clinic's main campus, including Miller Family Pavilion, is five to ten minutes away on foot, and a Cleveland Clinic shuttle stop is a five minute walk for the days when even that is too far. Meijer Fairfax Market, also five minutes on foot, is a full grocery store with a coffee shop, so a companion can restock without leaving you alone for long. The building's private courtyard is a reasonable place to do the short daily walks a surgeon asks for before you try the sidewalk.
